JD (S) national president H D Deve Gowda on Saturday came down heavily on the Congress leaders for holding him responsible for deletion of some assembly constituencies in the delimitation and asked them to seek an explanation from Justice Kuldip Singh Commission.
“Let them bring pressure on the Centre to constitute another delimitation commission if they are unhappy with the decision of the present one,” said Mr Gowda while addressing a press conference at party headquarters in Bangalore.
Stating that he is upset with the “baseless” allegations by Congress leaders, Mr Gowda said that he was not even a member of the Commission when it issued draft notification on delimitation, in which it proposed to drop Sathnur, Kirugavalu, Keregodu, Ghandsi, Birur etc.
“I am not preventing any one from taking necessary steps if there has been injustice in the process of delimitation. Those who have to raise voice against the ‘injustice’ on behalf of the affected Congress leaders have been maintaining silence,” he quipped.
He also pointed out that there was no unanimity within the Congress on the issue of reserving constituencies for scheduled caste and scheduled tribes and the State legislature could not pass a resolution due to that difference.
Mr Gowda alleged that a political leader from Mumbai wanted to “finish” the political career of his chief minister son H D Kumaraswamy. “Hello, I am former chief minister of Karnataka.
This was how that person was introducing himself over phone,” said Mr Gowda pointing out that the said person could not do anything to his son. Mr Gowda, however, did not disclose the name of the political leader.
