The Bangalore University Syndicate suspended the director of Distant Education and Correspondence courses B C Mylarappa on Saturday and ordered inquiry by the CoD into the charges of administrative lapses and financial delays.
Fearing that Mylarappa might create problems, heavy police force was deployed on the Central College premises but no untoward incident took place. Addressing media persons after the meeting, BU Registrar Sanjay Veer Singh said, the syndicate ordered a special audit into the financial affairs of the Directorate of Distant Education and Correspondence courses and CoD probe into the administrative lapses.
When asked about the nature of financial delay, Mr Singh said some demand drafts of the directorate were not deposited and Mylarappa did not give account of some expenditure.

“The Syndicate decided that till the inquiry against him is completed, he should be kept under suspension,” said Sanjay Veer Singh.
He added that Mylarappa’s Colombo and Dubai visits would also be investigated.
Meanwhile, Justice Sadashiva committee after conducting probe into the allegations against Mylarappa - that he had made derogatory comments against Governor T N Chaturvedi found that the video CD, which contained his statement and later aired by a private TV channel, was doctored.
The moment the meeting ended, some rivals of Mylarappa burst crackers to celebrate.
The Central College premises had completely turned into police barrack and the meeting was organised under the police cover.
