The deputy commissioner S R Umashankar has instructed officials of Food Department to find out unauthorised refilling of LPG cylinders and utilising domestic LPG for commercial purposes and take stringent action against the culprits.
The mis-use of domestic LPG has reached its all time peak, with complaints from all quarters pouring in about LPG cylinders being sold in black market. Hence the Deputy Commissioner’s instructions has come timely, it is said.
Not BPL card alone
While facilitating government projects to the beneficiaries, only BPL cards should not be considered as measuring rod, the deputy commissioner suggested.
The BPL cards are meant only for considering for food grains and cannot be taken as a measure for other benefits, he said.
Since various facilities from the government are provided on the basis of income certificate provided by tahsildar, DC instructed the officials to consider only the income certificate while providing facilities.
He also issued orders to inspect on regular basis if the PDS shops are distributing ration to all card holders on time and regularly. Since the available food grains are limited, care should be taken to see that ration is distributed as per unit and not misused, he said.
Stringent action will be taken erring junior engineers and they will be kept under suspension, he said.
Speaking at a draught relief civil works progress evaluation meeting, he said, it was found that bills were not submitted on time for the works executed. He instructed executive engineer to submit list of such engineers.
The executive engineer, assistant executive engineer and Nodal officials should submit reports about drinking water and various civil works taken up for draught relief and the quality on regular intervals, he said.
A report will be submitted to the government after taking action against those taluk officials who have implemented less than 50 per cent under the draught relief civil works, he said. Bore wells will be dug in areas where drinking water shortage is acute and already Rs 295 lakh has been released for the same.
Under other projects, 50 per cent will be reserved for drinking water projects through zilla panchayath and Revenue departments, he explained.
