President of State Government Degree Colleges’ Temporary Lecturers Association P S Kappesh has informed that a massive rally of temporary lecturers will be held in Bangalore on June 12, urging the Government to regularise the services of temporary lecturers serving in the Government first grade colleges since 1995.
Speaking to media persons here on Wednesday, the president said, the Government had earlier promised to regularise the services of the temporary lecturers, but now, it was not responding properly. Hence, in order to catch the attention of the Government, all the members would organise a rally, which would begin from the NGO auditorium, near K R Circle at 10 am. The rally would submit a memorandum to the chief minister and higher education minister.
The Government has now issued a statement saying that it would recruit the vacant posts through the KPSC. But the temporary lecturers have been serving since several years with minimum wages. And now, these lecturers are past their age and have also lost the opportunity to apply. Thus as many as 600 lecturers are in deep trouble, Mr Kappesh alleged.
He further alleged that some of the IAS officers were hindering the regularisation process. The temporary lecturers were being treated as untouchables. Thanks to the treatment meted out to the them, these lecturers are now on the verge of committing suicide, he added.
If the Government fails to regularise the services of the temporary lectures, then, the president warned that, the association would intensify its agitation. Members of the association Chitralingaswamy, Lokesh, Kiran and others were present on the occasion.
