Godmother Santokben Jadeja was arrested by the police late on Saturday night, who accused her of giving refuge to Mohan Hamir, the accused in the Chandni murder case and his accomplice. She was presented before the Chief Judicial Magistrate in Junagadh, who granted a police remand of four days.
Santokben was arrested on a complaint by Savita, sister of Mohan Hamir, who claimed that her brother was given refuge by the godmother.
She claimed that Santokben had even threatened her against going to the police and that she would be eliminated if she attempted to lodge a police complaint.
The Chandni murder case had led to a number of protests and bandhs across the state and compelled Minister of State for Fisheries Purshottam Solanki, an influential Koli leader, to resign from the Modi Cabinet.
With the culprits still at large, Santokben has attributed her arrest to a political game by the BJP government.
Meanwhile, reports claimed that Santokben abused a policeman while in police custody.
