SAP Labs India Pvt Ltd on Monday bagged the 2007 edition of the Rotary Corporate Citizen Award, instituted by the Rotary Club of Bangalore in association with Deccan Herald. SAP Labs emerged as a winner from among the shorlisted final three, the other two being 24/7 Customer Services and i-flex Solutions.
Satish Venkatachaliah, Vice President (Human Resources), SAP Labs said the company — through SAPPORT, its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) wing — had been taking up initiatives for social causes in various spheres including disaster relief and adoption of orphanages.

He said one out of every three SAP employees in the country contributed to the CSR initiatives. The company, that allocates an annual fund of more than Rs one crore for its CSR programmes, has also involved itself in educational programmes including donation of e-learning equipment to schools.
Award criteria
Representatives from 24/7 Customer Services and i-flex Solutions briefed the gathering on the Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives being taken up by their respective companies.
The jury had decided on the winner based on four broad criteria: consistency in CSR, involvement of company employees in the initiatives undertaken by the company, profile of the beneficiaries and the impact of the initiatives and follow-up action on the initiatives.
K N Tilak Kumar, Editor, Deccan Herald and Prajavani, and Dr K G Ghorpade, President, Rotary Club of Bangalore were present on the occasion.
