A youth was allegedly hacked to death by his friends at Mudalapalya near Shivananda Nagara in Chandra Layout police limits late night on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Shivakumar (21), a second PUC dropout. According to police, it is a case of an old rivalry.
Unable to tolerate his activities, his father a mason had packed him off to his uncle's house in Indiranagar. On Sunday night, Shivakumar received a call asking him to come to Mudalaplaya. When he landed there, a gang of four pounced on him, attacked with deadly weapons and hacked him to death.
Shivakumar was taken to various hospitals before getting  admitted to NIMHANS. He was declared dead at around 3 am.
Sources said, two year's ago Shivakumar's mother Shantamma had committed suicide and his father had married for second time.
The father of the deceased has suspected that Shivakumar's friends Raghavendra, Pradeep and others may be behind the murder.
