Various infrastructure developm-ent projects, including up-gradation of all major roads, were launched at the Peenya Industrial Estate on Monday. This move is expected to give a major fillip to PIE, Karnataka’s biggest industrial estate.
The projects, taken up on Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) basis, are being funded by the Union, state governments and the Peenya Industrial Association (PIA). The project have been taken up at a cost of Rs 265 crore.
The following works are being undertaken as part of this project: Upgradation of 48 km of road, construction of12 bus shelters, a working women’s hostel for physically challenged along with a creche for children of women employees in the garment industry, Common Testing Tool Room, a state-of-the-art entrepreneurial excellence centre and a commercial waste material management Centre.
Health Minister R Ash-ok, speaking after launching the projects, said that the government had approved the elevated highway on NH-4 from Central Machine Tool Institute in Yeshwanthpur to the Peenya Industrial Estate.
The Union government will fund 75 per cent of the project followed by 10 per cent and 15 per cent by the state government and the PIA.
