Kidnapped girl rescued, man held
The City Market Police arrested a man within 48 hours after he kidnapped a minor girl.
According to the police, Mohammad Ummar Sharif (23), a resident of Goripalya, kidnapped Vidha Begum (15), a student of Ul Uloom School near Jamia Masjid, while she was going to the school on June 6. He kidnapped Vidha as he parents refused to give their daughter in marriage to him.
Vidha’s father, Maqbool Baig, a resident of Telecom Layout in Vijaynagar, lodged a complaint against Mohammad and his parents - Farooq Pasha and Haseena - for supporting their son in kidnapping Vidha.
Police, who launched a search, arrested Mohammad and handed over Vidha to her parents. A search is on for Farooq and Haseena, who are said to be absconding.
Man robbed by duo
A man was robbed of his gold chain worth Rs 10,000 by two persons in Cottonpet police station limits on Sunday. According to the police, Pradeep Kumar Jain was returning home when the duo on a motorbike waylaid him on G B Lane I Cross, snatched his chain at knife-point and sped away.
2 houses in row burgled
Two adjacent houses were burgled on Sangam Road in Commercial Street police station limits on Sunday.
Thieves gained entry by breaking open the front door of a house and made away with gold ornaments worth Rs 2 lakh and Rs 2,000 in cash.
The theft came to light on Monday when owner Padmanabh returned home.
The adjacent house, which belonged to Muniraju, was also looted. Gold ornaments and a camera were stolen from the house.
Furniture gutted
Wooden furniture kept in a truck was destroyed in a fire at Basavanagar in HAL police station limits. The extent of the loss is not known as the truck owner has yet to lodge a complaint, said the police.
