The City unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party has opposed the decision of the Bangalore University (BU) to lease out 17,000 sq ft of grounds in the Central College campus to KPTCL.
In a release issued on Monday, the BJP has said that the decision has come as a rude shock to all sport lvers.The BU had on a earlier occasion decided to construct an international convention centre on the same grounds, but shelved the project bowing to public pressure.
  “The varsity seems to bent upon creating another concrete jungle” said B N Vijay Kumar, BJP city unit president. The BJP has demanded an ordinance prohibiting use of any portion of Central College grounds for non-sporting activities from the state government.
