Zilla Panchayat Vice-President Nagaratna and Standing Committee President Dr Y Ramappa, H Manjappa, B H Giri Gowda on Monday boycotted the progress review meet of the Karnataka Development Programme, on grounds of being humiliated and also for violating disciplinary measures.
At the beginning of the meeting Dr Y Ramappa said that during the village stay of the Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy at Madhuranayakanahalli, the ZP president and its members were not invited to attend any of the programmes. Moreover, the ZP members have been neglected with regard to the foundation laying ceremony  programme of the modernisation work of the Bhadra canal, to be held on June 13. Thus, condemning this behaviour of the officials, we are boycotting the review meet.
The members then staged a walk out
After discussing the matter, the ZP CEO informed that the progress review meeting will be postponed to June 15.
The deputy commissioner is responsible for this, accused ZP President H B Manjappa.
Neglect
After the postponement of the meeting, speaking to the press persons he said that the deputy commissioner since the beginning has been neglecting discipline. It is inappropriate on the part of the DC to neglect the members of the zilla panchayat.
Moreover, the DC has never informed the ZP members about the drought relief and other such developmental works, he said.
If we do not protest against this behaviour, then the very institution of zilla panchayat will be demeaned, he added.
Thus, the deputy commissioner is systematically humiliating the zilla panchayat, he accused.
Moreover, the deputy commissioner is holding the officers’ meet on several days, thereby affecting the works of the common public, added Mr Manjappa.
