New charges against Pak CJ
Pakistan government on Monday said it would file new misconduct charges against suspended chief justice Iftikar M Chaudhry, deepening the crisis sparked by the presidential reference against him, PTI reports from Islamabad.
“The government has decided to file a second reference of charges against Chaudhry to counter the bid by his lawyers to politicise the judicial issue,” Law Minister Wasi Zafar said.“Total responsibility for the second reference against Chaudhry lies with his lawyers and they paved the way for the same,” Mr Zafar said in a statement.
The minister, however, did not specify what the new charges were.
Blair debuts in Shekhar’s film
British Prime Minister Tony Blair has made his movie debut in a short film about climate change awareness, which is directed by Indian filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, reports PTI from London.
The 54-year-old outgoing premier plays a “carbon crusader” in the film, titled Global Cool, that also stars beauty Sienna Miller.
