BBMP commissioner K Jairaj directed the officials concerned to demolish illegal constructions in the Pottery Town Palike play ground.
During his visit to the area on Tuesday, the Commissioner directed Joint Commissioner of East zone to survey the playground within a week and construct a compound to avoid further encroachments at a cost of Rs 10 lakh.
The Palike has also floated tenders for setting up basket ball court at a cost of Rs 3.36 crore.
Maternity home
Mr Jairaj held a discussion with the officers of East zone about the renovation of a maternity home located in Pottery town. The Palike has decided to undertake renovation work under DBOT (design, build, operate and transfer) plan.
According to the proposed plan a multi-storey will be constructed in place of the exisiting structure. While the ground floor of the building will be the new maternity home, the remaining floors maybe used by commercial establishments. The Commissioner has directed officers to take up work tender work soon.
Greenery
Mr Jairjaj ordered Deputy Conservator of forests to take up the development of greenery along the railway lane stretch of 17 km between City railway station and Byappanahalli station and directed that the work be completed by August
