Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagar Palike has collected property tax of Rs 160.62 crore in 100 wards of the old Bangalore Mahanagara Palike area since April 1 this year however falling short of the set target of Rs 155.80 crore.
The Palike has recorded 30 per cent more collection of property tax compared to the previous year of Rs 126 crore.

Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagar Palike  Commissioner K Jairaj appreciated efforts of the Palike staff in collecting more than the set target.
The Palike had notified May 30 as last date to pay property tax but later extended the duration till June 11 owing to public demand for more time.

Penalty
However, those who have failed to pay tax before June 11 will have to pay penalty of five per cent of total amount per year.
