The Central government has released Rs 25 crore to the district for implementing the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) towards the first installment in the new financial year 2007-2008.
Disclosing this at the monthly review meeting of the Karnataka Development Programmes (KDP) Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer P C Jaffar said that till the end of May 3.26 lakh mandays have been created by spending Rs 4.7 crore in the first two months of the new financial year. ZP President Saibanna Neelappagol presided over the meeting.
Failure
The CEO expressed his displeasure over the failure of the district level officials to obtain monthly monitor review (MMR) approval for the year 2007-08. He warned that a report will be submitted to the government against those officers who failed to get MMR approval.
Action
He also instructed the agriculture, forest and animal husbandry departments to submit human development reports without any further delay. Action will be taken against the officials of these three departments if they did not submit the necessary report.
Also, the CEO instructed all the heads of departments to incorporate the changes made in the format of the KDP review by contacting the planning department officials in the zilla panchayat. The department heads should personally come to the planning department for making necessary changes in their departmental computers.
