Parents who send their children to work should be punished, said District in-Charge Minister S A Raveendranath.
Speaking at the Anti-World Child Labour Day and felicitation programme held under the aegis of Voluntary Organisations Forum and UNICEF, he said, there is a need to amend the law in this regard, parents should never send children to work.
Children must be given education, he added. Authorities concerned should identify child labourers and send them to schools, he said. Law expert Professor S H Patel said people’s co-operation is needed to eradicate chid labour. Law alone can't resolve the menace, he added. MLA Shamanuru Shivashankarappa, Deputy Commissioner M B Dyaberi were present on the occasion.
