Citizens on the Town Panchayat limits have got a sigh of relief after the two major hurdles in maintaining the cleanliness of the town have been removed efficiently. The officials have found an alternative way of disposing the garbage being accumulated near the market and river Cauvery.
The weekly market is being held in the town every Tuesday, and it had become a serious problem to dispose the garbage collected at the end of the day. That too, the majority of the garbage was plastic. After many years of accumulation of garbage, the Town Panchayat came forward to dispose the huge heap. A big pit was dug beside the heap and the entire garbage collection was buried with the help of a JCB.  On other hand, arrangements have been made to clear the garbage from the banks of river Cauvery. The garbage being thrown there will be disposed at the solid waste management plant established near Bhuvanagiri village, stated Panchayat official P S Mahesh. The president of Janadani Vedike K N Devaraj and citizens of the town have appreciated the efforts of the Town Panchayat officials and the Deputy Commissioner in providing a clean city for the people.
