Born and brought up in the forests, tribal people share a good rapport with surrouding area and hence its is unimaginable for them to make a living outside the forests, said District-in-Charge Minister Ramachandra Gowda. Addressing the tribal people at Nalkeri Goneegadde tribal area on Monday, he welcomed them back to their original habitat.
The tribals can not relate themselves to any place other than their birth place, he said and urged them to enable themselves to join the main stream of the society. He appealed them to accept the country as their own as is the forest and to make use of the available educational opportunities.
Before his departure, he listened to the greivances of the tribals. Mr Gowda visited many other tribal areas and promised to restart picotta irrigation unit at Bekkesodlur and Besaguri.
State BJP ST Morcha President Siddaraju alleged that the organisations that shifted the tribals to Nagpur failed to provide them minimum basic facilities resulting in their return to their natural habitat. Tribals are part of the forest, he added.
Even though the government has allotted Rs 1,650 crore for the development of the tribes, including education, scholarships and employment, no development programmes have reached these people so far, Mr Siddaraju alleged.
Taluk Panchayath Member Muthamma plead to the government not to intervene in the affairs of the life of the tribals and to rescue them from the ‘fake’ cases registered against them by the forest officials.Taluk BJP President Machimada Ravindra, State BJP ST Deputy President Bhimanna Honnur, General Secretary K B Nagendra, Tahashildar Shwetha and District BJP General Secretary Rabin Devayya were present.
