Minister for Woman and Child welfare, H K Kumarswamy has said that all the state government projects undertaken by various departments will give 33% reservation to women to help empower them.
He was speaking at a press conference after a progress review meeting at the Kolar panchayat. “ The officials have been intimated that women should be prioritised in all sectors including fishing, agriculture, silk, animal husbandry and forests” he added.
A technical hindrance to reservations for women is that the deeds for immovable property is held by the male members of the family. This is especially true in the case of the Ganga Kalyana Yojane. He said that hence forth the government would release land deeds in the name of the women who are granted the land. He also added that the current deeds would be converted into the joint holdings but said that the law would need to be amended to bring in the changes required.
