Minister gets pushy, they get suicidal
DH News Service, Bangalore:

Tension prevailed for some time as the JD(S) office premises here on Wednesday after two daily wage workers tried to commit suicide by consuming poison after they were reportedly irked by Minister H D Revanna’s attitude.
Kenchegowda and Chandru, watchmen at the forest department office in Shimoga, were rushed to Bowring Hospital after they started vomiting.
Their condition is stated to be serious.
According to sources, 7,000 State government daily wage workers had been staging a protest in Jakkarayanakere since June 11 demanding regularisation of their services. A group of 20 members came to the JD(S) office on Wednesday to meet Chief Minister H D Kumarasw-amy, who was chairing the JDLP meeting. While the CM left without meeting protesters, the latter met Revanna.
The latter said he was not aware of the issue and raised objection to their coming to the JD(S) office. He started abusing a few of them and pushed them aside.
Upset over the minister’s attitude, Kenchegowda and Chandru consumed poison. While Revanna left the office, police rushed them to the hospital, sources added.
