ESIC withdraws 45 criminal cases

The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), Sub-Regional Office, Hubli, has withdrawn 45 criminal cases filed against employers for non-payment of contributions and non-submission of returns under the amensty scheme.
A press release by the ESIC said the accused employers have paid up Rs.18 lakh under the scheme consequent upon which a linient view has been taken. The amnesty scheme came to an end on May 31.
ESIC Joint Director K.M.Joy has advised all the employers to pay contributions and submit returns in time so that further prosecutions and adhoc asssessments can be avoided and benefits can be extended to their workers without any interruptions.
