Shrigeri's Sri Sharada mutt Peetadhipathi Sri Bharathi Teertha swamiji was conferred a Grand Shobha yathra to welcome him on Tuesday in the city. 
 Swamiji visited the district for the first time after a long gap of 18 years. Swamiji who came Surpur to vity on Tuesday was welcomed near Agricultural college.
The  Shobha Yathra  started from Govind Rao Petrol Bunk  and ended at Boob Bhavan, where prayer meet was held.
   MLA Muniyappa Mudappa,  MLC  Manohar Maski, M Nagappa Advocate, Dr A Shankar, Dr Raghavendra Rao Kulkarni and many others participated in the yathra.
Dharna staged
In a spontaneous action on Wednesday Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) led by its state vice president Chamarasamali Patil staged dharna in front of DC office here urging to provide seeds.
For farmers who posses a agriculture pass book seed allotment entry has been made. But from past three days seeds are not provided. The aggrieved farmers staged dharna and fispersed after assurance given by DC Dr Ravishankar that the matter will be discussed and seeds will be distributed.
