The election for the post of the President will be held on July 19 and the counting of votes will be done on July 21, the Election Commission announced on Wednesday .

The notification will be issued for the election on June 16, while the last date for filing of nomination would be June 30, Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalswami told a press conference here.

The nomination papers would be scrutinised on July two and July four will be the last date for withdrawal of nomination, he said.

Lok Sabha Secretary General P D T Achary has been appointed as the Returning Officer for the election.
