Last time I wrote in your paper which appeared as letters to editor, where I stated that maximum temperature noted in 1946 was 29 degree centigrade in summer months. Today, it is 36.5 degree centigrade. I want the reputed scientists to tell me the reason for the increase in temperature noted in Bangalore over the years. I have found that someone has written that increase in manpower is the reason. While I do not deny the reason, I want to add some more in this respect. In 1964-65, I noted also that in summer months sky would be cloudy most of the time. Bright sunshine in day time used to be rare. People who came from outside the state would get asthmatic tendency. So light sweaters were prescribed to keep them warm. Most of the time slight drizzling was also noted. We were told that Bangalore did not have a separate weather of its own; because of low pressure in Madras, we were having these dull days. Therefore this aspect has to be considered why we do not get so frequent low pressure in the sea surrounding Madras. In my opinion frequency of low pressure developed in Madras and man made increase in temperature, both have to be studied to get an answer to my question regarding steep increase in temperature in summer months in Bangalore.
