It is usually your mother who has to bear the brunt of the early morning rush to get to school or work. Hema Anand has some useful tips to help her out.
The long summer vacation is over and its time to get back to your regular routine. When its holiday time, we feel relaxed as we don’t have to reach school on time. But now that the schools and colleges have re-opened, its time again for the early morning madness.
It happens in most houses— early mornings are a time when all the members of the family want to get ready and leave either for work, school or college. So it’s evident that there has to be a rush— a mad rush.
And can you imagine the state of your dear mom? It is she who does most of the early morning chores. Right from making your breakfast and milk to packing your snack box, from making dad’s tea to packing lunch for him. And matters may get worse if she too is working and has to leave for her workplace. So don’t you think that she needs a helping hand from your side? With a little thoughtfulness and organisation, you can change the daily scenario in your house. Here are a few tips—
Keep your school bags ready the night before. Put in all the required books and stationery. If you need to get your parents’ signatures on report cards, work sheets, project books or diaries, make sure to get them the night before and put them into your bags right away instead of leaving them on the study table or side table (it is very likely you might forget to put them into your bags in the morning).
If you are old enough, iron your own uniform and keep it ready at night along with polished shoes, socks, tie, belt, PT shirt, rain coat etc. You could also help mom with your younger sibling’s clothes.
In the morning, try to wake up on your own by keeping an alarm and finish your daily chores quickly. Fold the blankets and put them away in the right place; hang up your wet towels for drying and put dirty clothes into the laundry basket or washing machine. Clear your room of all clutter and spread the bedsheet neatly. This is one job done for your mom.
Help your mom in packing the snack boxes for everyone or in making the sandwiches or eggs or cereal for breakfast. Fill the water bottles for school the night before so that precious time is not wasted in the morning. Help in clearing the dining table after breakfast.
These small little gestures from your side can make a big difference in making the mornings hassle free for all at home, thus making them real ‘Good mornings’.
