Samiti threatens to launch agitation
Government urged to drop CET for PG courses
DH News Service,Gulbarga:

The Hyderabad Karnataka Horata Samiti has strongly opposed the government move of  conducting state level common entrance test (CET) for  the admission to 11 post graduation courses in universities from the current academic year.
The samiti has urged  the government to stop the move with regard to CET for PG courses but continue the prevailing system.
Samiti senior leader and former MLA Hanamantarao Desai and Samiti District President SGMelkundi said the CET for PG courses will do a grave injustice to the students of educationally backward districts such as Gulbarga, Bidar, Raichur and Koppal as they cannot compete with the students of educationally advanced in other parts of the state.
They pointed out that the very establishment of university was to fecilitate educational opportunities for the students of that particular area and if the common test was conducted for the admission  the less previliged and the deprived will remain out of higher education’s bound .
They said the decision to hold CET for PG courses was not only unscientific but also hasty, unilateral and arbitrary. No one had demanded CET for PG admission.
The elected representatives particularly the MLCs elected from teachers and graduates constituencies too have opposed the move.
The two leaders said if the government was bent upon holding CET for admission to PG courses the same could be held for the students of Gulbarga university.
Agitation
The Samiti has threatened to launch an agitation in co-operation with the students organisations and others if the government fails to drop the move.
The Samiti has also demanded for the constitution of a separate board for Pre University Education and for SSLC for Hyderabad Karnataka region.
