The Basaveshwara medical college and hospital in the city has vehemently denied the charges of neglecting treatment for a patient who is burnt by fire and ultimately died, recently.
It has condemned the hooliganism of some people for ransacking the hospital causing damage to property and assaulting the D Group employees of the hospital.
Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Shivaraj Alshetty said 25 year old Prashant Dhumal was brought to the hospital with 100 per cent burns and the medical officers had made all the necessary arrangements for the emergency treatment. ``Despite, doctor’s effort in saving his life, the patient succumbed to injuries in about six hours. The chance of saving his life was bleak’’ Dr Alshety said, asserting that the hospital staff did everything possible to give the required treatment.
Denying that the death of the person with 100 per cent burns was due to the negligence by the hospital doctors the medical superintendent said few people must have made the allegation with the intention of creating bad image about the institution.
