The Coastal Karnataka Fishermen Action Committee and other organisations have decided to protest against the government’s decision to provide licences to 110 foreign boats for deep sea fishing and against the expansion of coastal zone at a seminar held under the aegis of NFF recently. The seminar decided to take out a delegation to Union Labour Minister Oscar Fernandes and minister concerned under the leadership of NFF President Harekrishna Debnath and Coastal Karnataka Fishermen Action Committee President Pramod Madhwaraj on June 21.
It has also been decided to start a post card campaign throughout the country against the decision.
The seminar also decided to hold processions and public meets throughout the country on August 9. Various organisations have also decided to hold Delhi Chalo if the demands are not met by the Government.
Coastal Karnataka Fishermen Action Committee Working President Loknatah Bolar and Akhila Karnataka Meenugarara Kriya Samithi General Secretary Vasudeva Bolur participated in the seminar.
