Career guidance in IT
Aptech Computer Education will be organising a programme named OpportunITy for parents and students who are interested to pursue their career in the software field on June 19 at the institute in Balmatta.
According to a press release, the programme will feature career guidance on software and placement workshop from industry. There will be a special interactive and guidance session for parents.

Convocation   held
The 25th Convocation ceremony of IATA/UFTAA students of Globe College of Travel and Tourism was held at Taj Manjarun on June 9.
As many as 36 students passed out this year. Mr Ravish Kumar of Tradewings was the guest of honour on the occasion and dis the honours to the successful students.
Dr Thangam Verghese presided over the function. Principal Astrid Rasquinha was present on the occasion.
Selected for       national contest
Uday N Nayak of Mangalore Aquatic Club has been selected to represent the State for the national junior aquatic championship to be held in Bhopal from July 4 to 8.
According to a press release, Uday, a 9th standard student of Canara High School at Urwa in Mangalore, participated in the State-level junior swimming championship held at Bangalore from June 4 to 6, on the basis of which he has been selected to the national championship.
In the State-level championship, has bagged two gold medals, in 50 metres free style and 50 metres breast stroke and one silver medal in 200 metres breast stroke in Junior Boys group 2, the release added.
Starting MCA course
The Shree Devi Institute of Technology will be starting an MCA course from the current academic year with an intake of 60 students.
According to a press release, the Institute has recently been granted permission by AICTE to the start the MCA course.
At present, the institute is running engineering courses in Computer Science, Information Science, Electronics and Communication and Mechanical, the release added.
Corp Bank signs MoU with ICRA
Corporation Bank signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for SME rating with ICRA. Corporation Bank Executive Director K L Gopalakrishna and Senior Vice President and Head of Southern Region of ICRA Jayanta Chatterjee executed the MoU in Bangalore on Friday.
According to a press release, the purpose of the MoU is to enter into an alliance for utilising the services of each other to promote the cause of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) sector.
 In particular, the MoU envisages comprehensive and reliable rating services to SMEs which is transparent and at an affordable cost.
The MoU also extends comprehensive rating services provided by ICRA, the release said and added that the Bank has recently entered into a similar MoU with other rating agencies like CRISIL and SMERA, for providing rating services to SMEs., the press release added. 
Applications     invited for MBA
Applications are invited  for MBA course in MSNM Besant Institute of post graduate studies for the academic year 2007-08.
 Intake will be there in both management (KMAT) as well as merit (PGCET) categories and aspirants are requested to contact the institute without waiting for the last date.
According to a press release, the institute, affiliated to Mangalore University and approved by AICTE, has hostel facilities for both girls and boys separately.
To strengthen the training and placement activities, retired Executive Director of Vishakhapatnam Steel Plant S R Kamath has joined as the Advisor of the institute recently, the release said.
