Politicians are responsible for creating confusion in the minds of children and parents on the language policy, said District Kannada Sahitya Parishat member N S Shivaswamy.
Speaking at Late B S Shamanth Memorial Endowment lecture, he said students should be given education through experience. There is a need to provide an effective education on science and research to the students.
Government should provide preference to education and appoint suitable teachers to impart quality education. Instead, it is involved in creating confusion over language policy. The mother tongue will help in providing an effective education to the children. Government should seek the advice of linguists before implementing language policy in education, he added.
Taluk Kannada Sahitya Parishat President K Ashok said Kannada should be the medium of instruction. Learning English as a language from third standard will help in their future education.
