A statue has been unearthed at a land in Gulladamane (Ayyanahalli) in Lingadahalli on Thursday. It was found on the land belonging to Town Municipality Council former Vice-President Bhagyamma Mallikarjunappa while ploughing. The statue is four feet tall and is very attractive.
The seniors in the village say that the statue must have been made of ‘Krishna shile.’ The statue has seven snake-hoods, an umbrella and an emblem of Hoysala kingdom. Two goddess are standing beside the statue.
Later, a pooja was also offered to the statue. Speaking to presspersons, Tahsildar Lakshmana Naika said the unearthing of the statue has been brought to the notice of archeological department. More details are sought from the experts. He said villagers are urging the authorities to install the statue where it was unearthed and make an arrangement for the daily pooja.
