Wigan and Leigh College India (WLCI) is hosting ‘Young at art’- the annual graduation design exhibition by students of WLC college of Bangalore. The creative design show is being held at WLCI’s campus located at 30 Dickenson Road for two days. The show which began on June 15 concludes on June 16 from 10 am to 7 pm.
The design exhibition showcased the creative expertise of the students, which they gained during their course. The show have 25 students participating and showcasing their ideas.
The exhibition displays the students photography skills, abstract paintings and free hand drawings some of them with brushes and some with just pens.
They have come up with brilliant ideas for print advertisements for different subjects and products. Students have even designed CD covers. The entire show was interspersed with workshops and jury visits.
The jury, consisting of industry professionals visited the the show to judge students projects for annual award for achievement in advertising, drawing and photography.
Rahul Sengupta, Creative director Lowe inaugurated the show. The guest of honour for the award distribution ceremony which would be held on June16 is Milind Nayak, the renowned artist.
According to Varsha Shelar, HOD-design WLCI Bangalore said “Artistic ability has now moved from being a hobby to a precious business resource.
Talent in art and crafts leads youngsters nowadays into top-notch careers in the graphic design, animation and photography and art does not have any age barriers, we have students who have even completed their engineering but pursue designing out of their choice”.
WLCI has a diploma course which is of two years and a degree course of three years and for the third year the college sends them to UK as a part of the course.
The WLCI college teaches the students to design for advertising and to work as a professional in the design industry.
At WLCI the integration of theory and practice within the programme aims to develop students imaginative, intellectual and analytic capabilities.
