The Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) has proposed to discontinue the provision of providing photocopies of answerscripts to students.
The university is taking shelter under an order dated April 23, 2007 by a full bench of the Central Information Commission that, “answer sheets of candidates taking mass examinations are not liable to be disclosed”.
RGUHS has now proposed to revive its 1999 ordinance, whereby there would be double valuation of answerscripts of all examinations conducted by the university. However, there will be no provision for paper seeing or seeking photocopy of the answerscripts. “Under the double valuation system, after the answer sheets have been scrutinised more than once, looking into them and to provide photocopy would be a futile exercise without any scope for further valuation”, RGUHS Registrar stated in a press release.
The varsity has now invited objections to the scheme from the public. The last date for receipt of objections is June 30.
The objections can be addressed to the Registrar, RGUHS, 4th T Block, Jayanagar, Bangalore - 560041.
The envelope should be superscribed as objection towards revival of ordinance governing double valuation of answerscript. The last date for receipt of objections is June 30.
Background
RGUHS had first introduced the double valuation ordinance in 1999 with the clause that there was no provision for paper seeing or revaluation.
However, after 2005, many candidates have been applying under the Right to Information Act -2005 for photocopies of the answerscripts. Large number of applications started pouring in seeking photocopies of the answerscripts.
