The drinking water project undertaken by the KUDCEMP will be completed by December, said KUDCEMP Project Director J R Lobo.
Speaking at the KDP meeting held under the presidentship of District-in-Charge Minister B Nagaraj Shetty here on Saturday, he said the land acquisition process for laying pipeline has almost been completed. The Southern Railways and South Western Railways have to grant permission for laying pipelines near Padil (2.5 km stretch). However, in Mangalore City, all the pipelines have been laid.
To supply water to Ullal, pipeline has to be laid across Nethravathi river. The tender has been approved and the same has been sent to ADB for approval. We have opened the technical bid. Once ADB approves the tender, financial bid will be opened.
Waste mgmt unit
Mr Lobo said the waste management unit at Vamanjoor is almost complete and will be handed over to MCC.
Staff are being trained to handle the dumping yard.
The MCC have to make plans for its maintenance, he said and added that the compost plant is also ready. The waste management unit is the first of its kind in India.
Nemmadi centre
Mr Shetty urged the Deputy Commissioner to convene a taluk-level meeting for the disposal of applications related to ‘akrama sakrama’ and Land Tribunal.
The DC said that Nemmadi centres have been set up in hobli level to distribute RTCs to the public. The fee for RTC is Rs 50.
He also said that he has urged the tahsildar to call for an Adalat in every taluk to deal with the problems of revenue documents.
The Minister urged the DC to give publicity to the Nemmadi centres by displaying the details on the notice board of Taluk Panchayats.
Rangamandira
To a query on Rangamandira in Mangalore, Deputy Commissioner M Maheshwar Rao informed the meeting that the core committee has been appointed with DC, Executive Engineer, PWD Superintendent, an official from MRPL and ZP CEO as its members. The estimate for the tender is ready.
To a query on Gadinadu Bhavan scheduled to come up at Ullal, newly elected MLA U T Khader informed the meet that the government will release a sum of Rs 20 lakh.
“Our plan was to construct it at an estimated cost of Rs 60 lakh by raising fund from MLA fund, MP fund and other sources. Plan for the Gadinadu Bhavan is ready,” he added.
Fire service stations
An official from fire service station informed the meet that fire stations will be set up in Bantwal and Sullia. Land has been acquired for the same.
He said fire service stations at Mangalore, Kadri and Puttur needs to be upgraded.
MLA Abhayachandra Jain said that a fire service station needs to be set up at Mulky, for which the Minister responded positively.
