Aland MLA and former deputy chairman of the state legislative council B.R.Patil has asked Primary and Secondary Education Minister Basavaraj Horatti to resign from his post honourably in protest against the unabated interference of PWD and Power Minister H D Revanna in the affairs of education portofolio.
"Revanna has become an extra constitutional authoritity and has undermined the significance of the education minister’" Patil said.
He told media persons here on Sunday that although the state government has sanctioned 190 high schools, 80 junior colleges and 104 degree colleges for the acadmic year 2007-08, grave injustice has been done to backward Hyderabad Karnataka in particular and north Karnataka in general. ``When I asked Horatti how the glaring injustice could be tolerated the minister told me that he (Horatti) had no role in sanctioning new schools and colleges as everything has been done by the power minister H.D.Revanna’’ Patil said.
It is highly disgraceful on the part of Horatti to continue as minister braving humiliation and insult Patil said adding: "If Horatti has minimum regards for his prestige and self respect he should quit honourably forthwith"
