Additional Superintendent of Police S N Siddaramappa has suggested the professionals and students to take part in sports.
Speaking at the prize distribution ceremony of K A Nettakallappa Memorial Road Race-2007 held under the aegis of Deccan Athletic Club at Nehru Stadium on Sunday he said that participation in sports will charge our physical and mental faculties. Lamenting about the tech-savvy generation which is obsessed with electronic gadgets like television, mobile phones and computers, he said that modern life style has resulted in physical and psychological problems.
Youngsters who get attractive perks in early part of their career itself, get involved in bad habits. ASP called upon the youngsters to inculcate healthy habits and practice yoga and sports on regular basis. Referring to overwhelming response in West for events like marathon, he said that even club level soccer games attracts huge crowd in Europe and America. ASP suggested the students to cherish sports as way of life.
Addressing the gathering, President of District Credit Cooperative Bank Manjunath Gowda stressed on the need of institutional support for sports. Over 350 participants from various parts of the State took part in the event. Chief Correspondent of Prajavani Honakere Nanjunde Gowda, Mr Venkatesh of Circulation Department, Anantaraju of State Olympic Association and others took part in the programme.
