State silk still in demand

The silk produced in the State is still in demand in the national and international markets, despite import from China.

This was announced  by the Sericulture Minister Sogadu Shivanna here on Monday, at a press meet.

Speaking on the occasion the minister said he would announce a new project for the benefit of the sericulturists soon. Mentioning that sericulturists are not committing suicide like the other framers, the new project would be further beneficial to them , he said.

The officials have been instructed to take care that the farmers get a fair price at Ramnagar, Shidlaghatta and at all other markets, he said. They are also instructed not to create trouble for farmers he said.
