Reiterating the government’s commitment to internal reservation among backward classes in the State, Chief Minister Kumarasway said the issue will be discussed at the cabinet meeting on June 21.
He told reporters here on Monday that a Cabinet sub-committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of Balasubrahmanya. Referring to Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa’s reported statement that he was not aware of the internal reservation issue, he said the matter was discussed in the Cabinet meeting. There was no question of Mr Yediyurappa not being aware of the matter.
New districts
Referring to the new districts of Ramanagaram and Chickaballapur, Kumaraswamy said the Cabinet’s approval will be sought on the June 21 meeting. The proposal for creating new districts of Gulbarga and Belgaum was not approved as there was confusion over division of Yadagiri, Shahapur and Surapur.
Besides, in Belguam, the language is also a problem. Gokak and Chikkodi have also demanded separate districts. Hence plan for creating new district is dropped.

The chief minister said, the government land near Bangalore will be sold to set up Special Economic Zones (SEZs) on market rates. The government will not deter the private investors from purchasing land at Nandagudi of Bangalore rural district. However, they can purchase the land only after giving fair price for the farmers, he added.
The chief minister directed the deputy commissioners to provide monthly allowances for widows, aged and disabled in time, as they form the majority of people line up at Janata Darshan every time.
