Substandard work in power reforms alleged
Gulbarga, DH News Service:

Hyderabad Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HKCCI) has alleged that the L&T Agency has carried out highly substandard work taken up under the power reforms in Gulbarga City leading to interruptions and disturbances in power supply.

In a letter to Power Minister H D Revanna and Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) Chairman K P Pandey the Chamber complained that the 11KV/400 volts LT Lines involving underground cabling has been found out to be highly substandard. Within two years of commissioning the work the conductor has lost its strength leading to unabated interruptions.

The Chamber wondered how a company of international repute could execute such a substandard work. The HKCCI said the work has become wasteful with crores of rupees going down the drains.

The Chamber attributed the substandard work to the large scale corruption prevailing in KPTCL/GESCOM.

The Chamber has urged the minister and the KERC to order for a detailed investigation into the substandard work.
