India needs dedicated, skilled work force
Mangalore, DH News Service:

For India to be among the first 2 or 3 nations in the world, we need a dedicated and young work force, said Mumbai based Global Intelenet Services CEO Sushir Kumar.

Addressing the gathering after inaugurating the new building of SDM College of Business Management here on Tuesday, he gave the management students of the college five tips for success. Build a vision for yourself and decide now what you want to achieve in the next five years; work hard for there is no short cut to success; take rest after hardwork;constantly think how you can do things better; you need some luck at the end of the day, he advised the students.

An alumnus of the college, Mr Sushir Kumar has been adjudged the best CEO of the country recently. Speaking on what the college has done on him, he said that it has imparted him values and skills and bonding with his classmates, which helped him become the General Manager of HDFC within 10 years after he left the college.

Speaking on the occasion, Mangalore University Vice Chancellor Prof K M Kaveriappa lamented over the lack of skilled human resource in India. Only 4.6 per cent of Indian youth have been enrolled for higher education last year compared to the 7.5 per cent in 1995-96.  The quality of management education has to be improved and the skills for conceptualisation, planning and execution, which is very essential to succeed in the corporate sector, has to be imparted to the students, he said and stressed the need to think and act independently so as to shine in the industry.

President of the function and SDM Trust Dr D Veerendra Heggade commented that a lot of people must be jealous of Tulunadu for it has given birth to so many great personalities and institutions that have a prominent place in the history of India. He appreciated Mr Sushir Kumar for taking up a BBM course even while he was selected for engineering, and added that the luck factor was very important in his case, in his path to success.

Mrs Hemavathi Heggade, College Principal Dr Devaraj K, Vice President of SDM Trust Prof S Prabhakar, Secretaries D Harshendra Kumar and Dr B Yashovarma were among the present on the occasion.
