Quota: Gurjars demand CBI probe
DH News Service, Jaipur:
Gurjar leader Colonel Kirori Singh Bainsla mentioned for the first time that two persons Jhutia, 75, resident of Todabhim and Nandan Singh, 60 from Bayan tehsil had died of hunger during the agitation.

Amidst preparations for a mahapanchayat at Pushkar on June 24, the Akhil Bhartiya Gurjar Sangharsh Samiti on Tuesday demanded a CBI inquiry into the atrocities on the Gurjar community during the recent week-long quota agitation in Rajasthan.
Colonel Kirori Singh Bainsla, who led the Gurjar agitation demanding a Schedule Tribe status to the community,  and patrons of the newly constituted Akhil Bhartiya Gurjar Sangharsh Samiti  said at a press conference here that a Central Bureau of Investigation probe should be ordered into the atrocities committed on the Gurjar community that claimed 25 lives.
The Gurjar leader mentioned for the first time after withdrawing the agitation following an agreement with Rajasthan chief minister that two persons —Jhutia, 75, resident of Todabhim and Nandan Singh, 60 from Bayan tehsil – had died of hunger during the agitation.
New entrant
Along with Delhi Member of Legislative Assembly  and Nationalist Congress Party leader Ranveer Singh Bidhuri — a new entrant into the  agitation — and chairperson of the Samiti, Sukhbir Singh,  Colonel Bainsla also pressed a demand to double the compensation package announced by Rajasthan government.
The Gurjar leaders asked the state government to give a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the kin of the dead and Rs 1 lakh to those injured.
They also demanded stern action against the policemen guilty of killing Gurjar agitators in police firing while asserting their demand for withdrawal of false cases against the Gurjar protesters.
The leaders said they would also seek intervention of the National Human Rights Commission in this regard.
Colonel Bainsla said that he would wait for three months for the agreement reached with the Vasundhara Raje government before contemplating further action.
Their agitation would, however, be conducted in a Gandhian manner, without any violence, he added.
When asked if he would attend the Gurjar Mahapanchayat being organised by Govind Singh Gurjar, Congress Member of Legislative Assembly  at Pushkar on June 24, Colonel Bainsla was non-committal.
The Gurjar leaders also announced that a rathyatra would start from August 1 led by Yashveer Singh, secretary general of the Samiti to apprise the  public of the quota issue.
Besides a Gurjar Samman rally will also be organised at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi in October-November to press their demands, the Gurjar leaders said.
Funds for victims
Meanwhile, the community raised funds to help the victims of violence and handed over Rs 1 lakh each to the kin of those killed during the agitation.
At a function held at Pipalkheda on Tuesday, the epicentre of Gurjar protests, attended by Gurjar leaders including Sachin Pilot, Congress Member of Parliament from Dausa,  compensation money was given to the victims’ families.
