Dr. Kalam should not succumb to the temptation of running for the president's post for the second term despite pleadings from the newly formed UNPA and the NDA which states he is still their 'first' choice and VP B S Shekhawat the 'second' choice.
This is nothing but a mere ploy to confuse the voters as the UPA has a clear edge over the combined strength of the NDA and the UNPA. The dice is loaded heavily against any contender to the UPA's choice Pratibha Patil.
If Dr Kalam wisely declines the offer to contest again, the UNPA would state that its members are free to vote for the NDA's choice as some of the constituents of the UNPA are allergic to the Congress I's choice and would do anything to defeat its nominee.
