The fifth edition of the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) summit on sustainable public private partnership (PPP) in infrastructure, Suminfra-2007, will be held in the City on July 6 and 7.
The event will focus on project development, governance frameworks in PPP, land acquisitions, urban infrastructure, community involvement in PPPs for infrastructure and transportation and logistics.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Chairman of Suminfra-2007 J P Nayak said the event is aimed at unveiling infrastructure opportunities for the private sector, enabling policy makers to appreciate the risk perceptions and concerns of the private sector and aiding financial institutions comprehend critical issues involved in infrastructure projects.
“The country’s development depends solely on its infrastructure model. Around 320 million USD needs to invested in infrastructure in the the next four to five years for sustainable economic growth. The two-day conference provides an excellent opportunities for PPPs in the southern states infrastructure development,” he said.
The conference will be inaugurated by Minister for Urban Development S Jaipal Reddy. Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajashekhara Reddy, CII Vice President K V Kamath, ministers and senior bureaucrats from the four southern states.
South ahead
Nayak said that the software exports from southern states comprising Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh accounted to 54.6 per cent of the total 12.5 billion USD exports and 90 per cent of the BPO operations was from the south. Similarly, in the apparel garment export, the south accounted to 40 per cent of the country 6.5 billion USD exports.
