The Special Court trying the fake stamp paper case has on Tuesday convicted two former doctors of Victoria hospital - Dr Gyanendrappa and Dr K M Chennakeshava - for issuing a false medical certificate to Abdul Kareem Telgi to help him get bail on medical grounds.
Special Court judge, Virupaksh V Angadi, while pronouncing the judgement, also found the doctors guilty under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act for showing favour to Telgi for extraneous consideration.
The trio Dr Gyanendrappa, Dr Chennakeshava, who was administrative officer of the Victoria hospital, and Telgi were also found guilty even under the Section 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Criminal Procedure Code.
The Court will pronounce the sentence to the trio after hearing the argument on quantum of sentence on June 20.
