The district unit of Veerashaiva Samaja on Wednesday took out a protest rally urging state government to ban the controversial book "Aanu deva Horaganavanu' written by Dr Banjagere Jayaprakash.
Later a memorandum was submitted addressed to Chief minister through Deputy Commissioner Dr Ravishankar. District Veerashaiva Samaja president Dr S B Amarkhed, vice president Shivappa Malipatil, secretary Basavaraj Sakri, advocate B Basavarajappa, Hanchinal Mahadevappa and others led the protest rally.

The members of the Rashtriya Basava Dal Trust held a protest in the City on Tuesday, demanding the State government to ban the book ‘Anudeva Horagananu’ written by Banjagere Jayprakash.
The protest was led by Sharadamma, Vachanashree T Malamma, V Vanishree, Mangalgouri, G Dakshayani, Sharanamma, Parvatamma, K Sujata, K Rajalaxmi, K Sunitha, K Vanitha and others.
The protesters submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner’s Headquarters’ Assistant Thimappa, addressed to Governor T N Chaturvedi.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms Sharadamma demanded the State Government to ban the book charging that it had hurt the sentiments of the followers of Lord Basaveshwara, Dr B R Ambedkar and Kuvempu. “The government should immediately initiate criminal proceedings against the author,” she added.
