“Mass marriages will put an end to the menace of dowry system and expenditure due to grand weddings,” said Adichunchanagirir shakha Mutt Seer Gunanatha Swamy.
He was speaking at a mass marriage organised by Bharatha Vikasa Parishath and Free Mass Marriage Committee. As many as 47 couples have entered into wedlock on Wednesday.
He called upon the couples to educate their children in the future. Free education will be provided to the students from backward community, he added.
G S Natesh of Shimoga said that the husband and wife should live harmoniously. Faith, trust and tolerance are essential for the success of marriage.
Later, the couples visited Sharada peeta. Bharatha Vikasa Parishath President A S Nayana presided while MLA D N Jeevaraj, ZP members H R Krishnamurthy, Shivashankar, Ramaswamy among others were present.
