The Hirekodige Gram Panchayat in Koppa taluk has resolved to urge the authorities concerned to conduct an enquiry into the alleged misappropriation in the distribution of ginger under Vidharba Package scheme.

In the meeting, the villagers alleged that the committee formed to identify the beneficiaries, violated all the rules and regulations and distributed the ginger thereby misappropriating lakhs of rupees.

The villagers also pointed out that in one particular case, all the five family members were given the ginger meant for the beneficiaries.

Though Taluk Panchayat Member Addada Sathish tried to give an explanation, the villagers questioned him and demanded an enquiry on the issue.

Presiding over the meet, Gram Panchyat President said that she too was kept in the dark on the issue and demanded an immediate enquiry on the issue. Later, the Members unanimously adopted the resolution that Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer should conduct an enquiry on the entire issue.

Quite interestingly, all the members cutting across party lines supported the issue despite their party differences.
