If the Constituency Delimitation Commission does not drop its decision to divide the constituency, the Jana Sangrama Vedike will go to court, said Vedike President D K Tharadevi Siddarth.
In a press release, Ms Tharadevi said the newly created Constituency will face more problems than the benefits. The new Chikmagalur-Udupi Parliamentary Constituency comprises of four each Legislative Assembly constituencies from each district.
Urging the Commission to retain Kadur taluk in its original parliamentary constituency, she said she has informed the Election Commission, members of the Commission’s Advisory Committe and all party leaders regarding the administrative and emotional problems faced by the people in the newly created constituency which may result in more problems due to geographical and cultural differences of both the districts.
The Commission failed to keep up its promise of retaining the Chikmagalur constituency in its original form, she said and informed that Kadur has been included in Hassan. She appealed to all political parties to support her in her fight against the Commission’s decision.
