Four mechanical engineering students of NMAMIT have designed an electric vehicle that can carry a single individual (SELWAY) for use in places like hospitals, airports, shopping malls, industries, college campus etc.
Avilash V L, Chirag M Shetty, Floyd S Lobo and Vaspaan R Chichgaar of the college have developed this compact, portable, pollution free, silent and eco-friendly battery operated vehicle under the guidance of Dr Srinivasa Rao B R and other faculty.
According to a press release, the three-wheeled vehicle has no chain drives, pulley drives, gear drive or any bulky transmission units, as the motor is incorporated inside the front wheel thereby reducing any transmission losses.
It is an alternative to any vehicle which depends on non-renewable source of energy and has low operating and maintenance costs.
A complete charging will take 6 hours, on which the vehicle runs for 30 kilometres. The maximum speed is 30 km/hr and doesn’t need operational skills. This project has been widely appreciated by many experts, the press release added.
