Chosen for theological award

Professor and Head of the Mangalore University Chair of Christianity Fr John Fernandes has been chosen as the recipient of the International Theological Award ‘Herbert Haag Prize-2007’ given by the Herbert Haag Foundation for freedom in the church in Switzerland.

According to a press release, the prize given to those who exposed themselves through free expression of opinion or courageous actions within Christianity, is being given to the Bethlehem Mission Immensee and Swiss theologician Xavier Pfister as well this year.

Fr Fernandes will be handed over the award in the ceremony to be held at Lucerne in Switzerland on June 24. Fr Fernandes has already left for Switzerland.

Student cabinet inaugurated

Ms Pramila H Rao inaugurated the students’ cabinet at Padua PU college on June 16.
